2025 Photo Contest

CATEGORIES!

We have changed the submission process for the Photo Contest this year and while doing so, we decided to refresh everyone on the rules for submission.

Photo Contest Rules:

  • Photo contest entries must be submitted through the website and be received no later than January 30.

    • Maximum of 4 photos

    • Please submit high resolution pictures

    • Make sure to fill out all sections of the entry form

    • If you have problems submitting your entries, contact us at [email protected]

  • Project must have been completed since last year’s CMCFA Conference.

  • Those submitting projects must be an active member of CMCFA and have paid their dues for the current year

  • Companies may only submit one (1) project per category.

  • A project may only be submitted for one (1) category.

  • If you completed multiple projects on a single boat, you must select only one project for submission into a category.

  • Must be in attendance at the Awards Banquet to win

There are twelve categories available for entry. You may submit one entry per category for each shop. Feel free to enter in as many categories as you'd like. A plaque will be awarded to the 1st place winner in each category during the Awards Banquet Dinner on Friday

Photo Contest Category Definitions:

Hard Window Enclosures

These are enclosures that can be on any type of boat made using rigid glass, such as polycarbonate or acrylic glass.

Powerboats

26' & Under Enclosures

(any glass type)

These are enclosures on any type of power boat that is 26 feet in length or less, using any type of glass.

Powerboats

27'& Up Enclosures

(soft glass only)

These are enclosures on any type of power boat that is 27 feet in length or over, using only soft glass.

Mixed Glass

Enclosures

These are enclosures on any type of boat that are made using a combination of rigid and soft glass. There is no limit on how many panels of each type are allowed, but there must be a mix of rigid and soft glass used.

Marine Canvas Coverings

These are covers fond on any boat, such as boat covers, helm covers, seat covers, engine covers and similar.

Sailboat, Exterior Canvas

These are projects such as dodgers, bimini tops, sail covers, lazy jacks, etc. found on sailboats. it only relates to canvas projects on that boat.

Power & Sail

Exterior Upholstery

Upholstery projects that are found on the exterior of the boat, including in the cockpit, bow, transom, or mezzanine. Upholstery that is exposed to the elements.

Power & Sail

Interior Upholstery

Upholstery projects that are found inside the cabin of any boat, that is not exposed to the elements. This can include seats, couches, headliners, hull liners or wall panels.

Most Unusual Marine

These are projects that are considered one-offs, or not generally part of a larger canvas and upholstery project but still related to the marine industry. This can include things like toilet covers, race boat cockpit covers, flag boots, spinnaker socks, etc.

NEW CATEGORY

Non-Marine Canvas

Any canvas project completed for something that is not related to boating. There are no specific requirements for this category other than the project was not used on a boat and that the project is not considered upholstery.

Any upholstery project completed on something that is not related to boating. There are no specific requirements for this category other than the project was not used on a boat and that the project is not considered canvas.

Scraps To

Cash

Bring an item made with less than one yard of fabric that you use in your business. Turn those scrap into some extra cash, share your ideas, and take home the plaque if voted the best money making idea

Buy-Sell-Trade

Bring a list of the extra supplies or equipment to post on our bulletin board. One sale could pay for your convention! We also can posted it on the website. Click the button and submit the Buy-Sell-Trade form.

Tools, Tips, and Tricks


Tools, Tips, and Tricks has been removed from the Photo Contest categories this year, but we are still asking folks to bring their best tool, tip, or trick. CMCFA is creating a session where every year, people can share their tools, tips and tricks with the group. We will then vote on the best submission, for a very special award. One submission per shop. If you are not able to bring the tool, tip, or trick with you, you may make a video to submit.
